Goodyear FAQ: Customer Login, Flexible PVC Hose, PET Sheet & More

I'm the quality and compliance manager at Goodyear's thermoplastic sheet and roll plant. I review roughly 30 orders each week before they ship—checking material grade, thickness, color code, labels, and certificates. Customers send in the same questions often enough that I have standard answers. Here they are, in one place.

Are you The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company?

No. That's the most common question, so here it is straight: we're a different company. Our Goodyear brand makes PVC, PET, PETG, PS, and ABS sheet and roll, foam board, blister-pack film, and binding covers. The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company makes tires and related rubber products. Different products. Different ownership. That's it.

Search results don't always make the distinction obvious. If someone looks for The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company login and lands here, they usually leave quickly. If someone looks for clear PET sheet and lands on a tire page, they have the opposite problem. We can't do much about the name overlap except be clear about what we manufacture. Where's the official Goodyear login for customers?

Several companies legitimately use the Goodyear name, so a search for 'goodyear login' will return more than one real portal—plus some look-alikes. Our B2B customers use the portal for order status, order history, reorder information, and downloadable quality certificates.

The safest way to log in is to open the order confirmation email we send from our own domain and use that link. After you log in the first time, bookmark the page. We've seen customers enter credentials on pages that had nothing to do with us, so if the URL doesn't match the domain on your emails, close the tab. Credentials are easier to lose than product quality.

What plastic sheet and roll products does Goodyear make?

Most of our output is thermoplastic material in sheet or roll form: PVC sheet and roll for blister packs and thermoforming; PET and PETG sheet and roll for clear packaging and displays; PS and ABS sheet for industrial thermoforming and lamination; foam board for signage and mounting; and blister-pack film plus binding covers for the printing and stationery trade.

We also match custom colors and custom thicknesses. From a quality standpoint, custom work is where spec discipline matters most. A small thickness difference might not be visible to the eye, but it can cause a thermoforming line to reject parts all day. That's why our order forms ask for thickness and tolerance, not just a material name.

Do you make flexible PVC hose?

No. We extrude and calender sheet and roll; we don't make flexible PVC hose. The confusion is understandable. Both products are called PVC, and the word Goodyear appears in several industries, so people assume the product range transfers. It doesn't.

Flexible PVC hose is a plasticized compound formed as round tube, often with textile or spiral reinforcement. It's specified by inside and outside diameter, wall thickness, hardness, and pressure rating—none of which works for a flat PVC roll. A clear, 0.5 mm PVC roll and a 19 mm flexible PVC hose are not interchangeable, even though both start with the same polymer name. When we quote PVC, we state the form: sheet, roll, or film. If an order just says PVC, I send a clarification request before approving it. That one habit has prevented more returned shipments than any other check we do.

What PET sheet should I use for pet shampoo packaging?

This question usually mixes up two different packaging routes. Pet shampoo bottles are typically blow-molded from PET resin; they aren't thermoformed from PET sheet. If you're a brand looking for bottles, you need a bottle molder or a resin supplier, not a sheet manufacturer.

Where our material fits is the secondary packaging: thermoformed trays, clamshells, or blister cards that hold or display the bottle. PETG sheet and roll is a common starting point for those because it thermoforms cleanly and gives good clarity and impact resistance.

Before you put a recycling claim on that package, check the wording against the FTC Green Guides. An unqualified recyclable claim needs substantiation that the package can actually be recycled where consumers will receive it. We provide material data and rPET options; the label claim is your team's responsibility.

How do you identify hydraulic hose fittings?

We don't sell hydraulic hose or fittings, but this question follows the Goodyear name, so I'll answer it directly. If you have the old fitting in your hand, start by cleaning it and checking the flats for a dash number or part number.

Then measure the thread with calipers and a thread pitch gauge. Male threads are measured on the outside; female threads on the inside. Determine whether the thread is straight or tapered, and check the seat angle if it's a flared fitting. JIC uses a 37-degree flare; SAE typically uses 45 degrees. The dash size, such as -6 or -8, refers to nominal hose inside diameter in sixteenths of an inch.

Don't rely on color or brand markings to identify a fitting. Two fittings can look identical and still leak if the seat angles differ. For hydraulic assemblies, have an authorized distributor confirm your identification before you order—it costs less than downtime on the machine.

What is the difference between PET and PETG sheet?

Both are clear polyesters, but they behave differently in processing. PET, usually supplied as APET, is stiff and more economical, but it needs proper drying before thermoforming. Skip the drying step and you can end up with cloudy sheet and poor forming results. PETG is a copolyester with a wider thermoforming window, which makes it forgiving in complicated molds and cold-formed packaging.

If your application needs crack resistance, good clarity, or easy processing, PETG is often the safer choice. If you're running high volumes with a well-controlled process, APET can be more cost-effective. The label on the roll isn't enough—ask for the exact material grade and confirm it with your thermoformer before production. From my side of the business, a quick email at the quotation stage prevents a lot of problems downstream.

What quality checks do you run before a plastic sheet order ships?

We check incoming resin lots against material certificates, track batch codes through extrusion and calendering, and label every roll with material grade, thickness, color code, width, and lot number. Before dispatch, my team verifies that the packing list and certificate match those labels.

The checks sound simple, but they catch real problems. In our Q1 2024 audit, for example, we found that a few certificates were missing batch codes—not because the material was wrong, but because the paperwork didn't link back to the test record. We corrected the process before any customer received the documents. It's the unglamorous part of quality: consistency, traceability, and clear specifications.

If you're shopping for a material supplier, ask what they check on every order, not just on the first one. The answer tells you more than any brochure.
